Project 1: Alchemies of the Transvisible
Short Film - VIEW FILM
Short Film about artist Elle Nicolaï and the 'ART STUDIO IN THE SKY'.
The contemplative space is reminiscent of a meditation room, or temple for healing, rather than a traditional art studio. Fronted by a body of water resting in an infinity pool, it seemingly floats above the Earth, with forever views of the ocean, coastline, hills and mountains.
Featuring music by AUM Orchestra ('AUM'), Bamboo Orchestra ('Pas a Pas'), Eric Kamen ('Barcelona Boo'), and Mersaidee Soules/Chris Nole ('Salamander', 'Forgiveness').
Project 2: The Healing & Transformative Power of Transcendental Art
Full Length 90 mns Documentary (HD) - IN PROGRESS
The documentary is a series of interviews and film footage on the themes of Art and Consciousness, Art and Spirituality, Art and Healing.
For this project, we have personally interviewed Dr. Stan Grof, Dr. Larry Dossey, and Dr. Harold Bloomfield.
We also have a comprehensive interview with Chip Ware, curator of the Jonson Gallery, about the formidable Transcendental Painting Group (TPG) - Raymond Jonson, Emil Bisttram, Agnes Pelton, Florence Miller, etc. (http://www.cla.purdue.edu/waaw/Pelton_Pierce/).
Linda Paladin, widow of the Native American spiritual artist, David Chethlahe Paladin (http://www.amazon.com/Painting-Dream-Shamanic-Chethlahe-Paladin/dp/1591430135), was interviewed as well. And during our visit to the Southwest, we were granted a rare privilege, by the Navajo Nation to film within the magical Canyon de Chelly (http://www.nps.gov/cach/).
We filmed Sally Arnot, president of the Morris Graves Museum in Eureka, Ca, on location, about the work of the artist Morris Graves of the Northwest School of Visionary Art (http://www.historylink.org/index.cfm?DisplayPage=output.cfm&file_id=5205).
Within an integral perspective, we'd like to engage viewers on several levels... We wish for the documentary to be educational, and also an aesthetic, transformative, and consciousness altering experience.
The various texts Ken Wilber has written over the years on the subject of art are extremely relevant to this project. Our favorite still is "In the Eye of the Artist - Art and the Perennial Philosophy," followed closely by his views on the evolutionary aspect of art, as expressed in "To see a World--Art and the I of the Beholder."
